Irene Dairy Farm has a rich history dating back to 1895 which is not only seen in the architecture and style of the settlement, but felt in the atmosphere characterised by the towering tree’s. While years ago it served as an important trading post and supplier of produce, today it is a central stop for locals to enjoy their day-to-day with a cappuccino in hand. Children enjoy the daily 3pm attraction which see’s the cows being milked and the calves being bottle-fed; this while their parents or grandparents sit in the outdoor spaces enjoying a spot of sun and a bite to eat. The farm is open to the public 7 days a week and is definitely worth the visit – also convenient that it is located between Johannesburg and Maroela Treetop Lodge, making for a nice pitstop en route.
